LIFE EXPERIENCES

Life experiences help form the people we become. I grew up on a family farm and was immigrated to Prince Edward Island over three decades ago. I guess that makes me a "CFA" or "come from away" as some people say. I prefer to be called an "HBC" or "here by choice". I moved to the Stanley Bridge area about 20 years ago. I have a rewarding career, a great family and many friends. I spent some time in government with both the feds and the Province. For the last 3 years I have been a municipal councilor in the Resort Municipality.

I am an engineer. I design buildings systems and a bunch of other stuff. I started growing grapes last year so I guess that makes me a hobby farmer too. As you can guess, life is busy.

WYSIWYG Philosophy

If you are looking for the perfect human for your Mayor, you won't find him or her here... or anywhere. I am full of faults and am self-aware of most of them. I am impatient, expect results sometimes too quickly, sometimes too passionate, sometimes too soft-hearted for a sad cause. Sometimes I am too direct.

I and a What You See Is What You Get kinda guy - WYSIWYG. I am not sophisticated enough to be anything else. I am also compassionate and caring.

After having spent half of my career in the senior ranks of government, I have strong opinions on how government should work and how it should be accountable to voters. You may not agree. If you don't, vote for someone else. That's democracy.

I believe ....

there should be one set of rules for everyone. It shouldn't matter that you don't know how the system works.
government should be transparent with decisions made in open meetings - not behind closed doors.
decisions should be made with common sense - not endless expensive legal opinions.
citizens need to be put first.
